Georgia Southern University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, 404-679-4501, www.sacscoc.org, to award associate, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist’s, and doctoral degrees. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) may be contacted for information about the accreditation status of Georgia Southern University, not for general admission information. The University is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools in the United States and the Southern Conference for Graduate Schools and adheres to the general policies and criteria established by these associations. Graduate programs in the College of Education which result in teacher certification are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The College of Business Administration is accredited by the AACSB International Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The MBA degree program is the third oldest MBA in the state of Georgia. The Web MBA Program, sponsored by Georgia Southern within a consortium of five University System of Georgia institutions, has been recognized as one of the “Best Online Graduate Business Programs” in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. The 4+1 option in the Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) program allows students to meet Georgia’s 150-hours of education requirement for becoming a Certified Public Accountant, CPA. Students completing this degree-deferral option receive both the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and M.Acc. degrees. The Master of Fine Arts degree is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Georgia Southern’s MFA is one of only three in the University System of Georgia to hold this prestigious accreditation. The Department of Psychology is a member of the Council of Applied Master’s Programs in Psychology. The Master of Music degree program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The Master of Public Administration degree program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. The School of Nursing is accredited by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. U.S. News and World Report continues to rank Georgia Southern’s Family Nurse Practitioner program in the top 5% nationally. The Master of Science with a major in Recreation in the College of Health and Human Science is accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association of the American Association for Leisure and Recreation Council on Accreditation. The Master of Science with a major in Sport Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences is accredited by the North American Society for Sport Management of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. |
