Georgia Southern’s Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering degree prepares individuals for career advancement in consumer, commercial and industrial technology fields. The program is structured to meet business’ need for engineering managers and individual contributors who possess leadership skills along with applications experience in a specialized field. The Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering study options enable students to design a program of study that meets their individual and professional career goals. Program graduates are prepared to assume leadership positions that contribute to quality, productivity, and competitiveness for their employers.
Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Concentration
This degree is focused and specialized in opportunities beyond the BS in Manufacturing Engineering degree with students selecting coursework in advanced manufacturing areas of robotics, additive manufacturing, automation, materials processing, nanomanufacturing, materials characterization, lean manufacturing, production control, quality, safety, and ergonomics among others. The Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering with specialization in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering degree prepares manufacturing engineers to accept greater project responsibility with more in-depth knowledge, while advancing more quickly in their careers.
Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering with Engineering Management Concentration
The engineering workforce fills the present and future needs of our society through the development and introduction of new products. Entrepreneurs and managers have a momentous responsibility and a crucial mission within this process. Georgia Southern’s Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering program emphasis on collective and critical thinking in the Engineering Management concentration encourages an open mind to innovation. *(Currently not available to international students).

Admission Requirements
- Completed requirements for the Bachelor’s degree at a college or university accredited by the proper regional accrediting association.
- An undergraduate degree or the equivalent in the proposed or closely related field of study.
- A 2.75 (4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average or higher on courses in undergraduate work, or equivalent.
- International students must meet College of Graduate Studies English Proficiency requirements.
- The Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering program with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering concentration requires: a) a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, and b) permission of the Graduate Program Director.
Applicants may be approved for provisional admission based on the quality of the admission material presented. Provisional students must earn grades of ‘B’ or higher in their first nine (9) hours of course work after admission and meet any other stipulations outlined by the department to be converted to regular status.
*International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited evaluation service and must be a course by course evaluation and include a GPA. (naces.org)
Advanced Bachelor’s to Master’s (ABM) Information
Qualified students may also be eligible for an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s (ABM) program. ABM programs allow you to begin graduate studies in your senior year so you can accelerate completion of a graduate degree. You’ll earn both a bachelor’s and a graduate degree faster.
