Georgia Southern University strives to achieve excellence in multiple high-profile research areas that are pursued in laboratories, numerous centers and institutes, and the southeast. Multi-disciplinary research includes sciences, social sciences, creative works, each addressing globally critical problems such as sustainability of the earth’s resources. Interactions with other national and international colleges, universities and industry ensure the integration of this cutting-edge research into education and workforce development.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development promotes excellence in research at Georgia Southern University and provides oversight for research, technology commercialization and economic development activities. Research enhances the University’s education and service missions both at the undergraduate and graduate levels and advances the development of the region and the State of Georgia.

The Office of Research Services and Sponsored Programs supports faculty and staff in the acquisition, performance and administration of projects and programs funded from sources outside the University. The ORSSP is the central point of coordination for grants, and contractual obligations from individuals; government and public agencies; and industrial financial and private organizations to support sponsored research and service activities at Georgia Southern University.

The Office of Research Integrity is responsible for ensuring that the research conducted at Georgia Southern University is conducted in a responsible manner, consistent with federal and state law and University Policies.
