Georgia Southern University offers a wide variety of programs to meet the diverse needs of our students, including numerous online academic programs. We hope to assist you in better meeting your academic goals; however, not all of our programs are available in all states. If you are located in a state other than Georgia and wish to enroll in one of our online offerings, please check here to determine if we have acquired permission to offer online courses and programs in your state.

Step 1: Review the admission requirements for the program to which you intend to apply.

*Application deadlines vary by program. Note the application deadline for the program to which you intend to apply. Submit all required supplemental items for admission which cannot be submitted with the online application (such as letters of recommendation or portfolios) PRIOR to the deadline. This means the items must be received by the Office of Graduate Admissions no later than the date of the published deadline.

*The online application process has been created so that it might be managed by you. This means that almost all required items (except some supplemental items such as letters of recommendation or portfolios) can be submitted as attachments along with the application. Therefore, before beginning the application, please create a .pdf file of each supporting document (such as unofficial transcripts, unofficial standardized exam scores, personal statement, resume or CV, proof of teacher certification, etc.) you wish to upload. You will be instructed in the application where each item can be uploaded.

*If you use the upload feature on the application, you should NOT mail your documents at this time. If you are offered admission, you will be asked to provide official documents.

Step 2: Create a new application or complete a previously started application.

*For more effective performance, Chrome is recommended as the preferred internet browser.

*Create an account for each application you wish to submit. If you are applying to more than one program, you must create a new user name and password for each application you wish to submit. Select the “Create Account” from the main application page and complete the requirements for creating the new account.

*Retain your user name and password since you will use this information to login to the application system to check the status of your application and receive your admission decision.

*If you have already created an account and are returning to complete and submit it, simply login with the user name and password you chose at the time of account creation.

*If you forget your user name and/or password, please utilize the “Forgot your User Name or Password” function on the main menu page. Our online application is hosted by Hobsons. Therefore, the Office of Graduate Admissions does not have access to passwords and cannot reset them. You must contact Hobsons technical support team using this function.

Step 3: Complete and submit the application for admission.

*Carefully review all information on your application to ensure accuracy prior to submission. In particular, please be certain the program and the term to which you intend to apply are properly displayed.

*A $50 non-refundable application fee must be paid using a credit or debit card for each application you submit.

*Once you submit the application, you will no longer be able to make any changes to the application.

*After submitting your online application, please allow at least 24 hours before checking your status.

*Should you encounter technical difficulties, please contact Technical Support via the “Technical Support” tab located in the top right corner of the application.

Transcripts
You should request an official transcript from each university you have attended. Then, image the transcript as a pdf document type and submit it as an attachment to the online application for admission. Official transcripts mailed in sealed envelopes directly from each university attended are only required if you are offered admission. Following notification of admission, official transcripts from all previous universities you have attended are required prior to matriculation. Letters of Recommendation
For those programs requiring letters of recommendation, unless otherwise specified by the program, recommenders should use the online recommendation form to submit recommendations for admission on your behalf. You will be prompted on the application for admission to list recommenders if letters of recommendation are required by your program. The recommender’s name and email address are required. Once you save this information on the application, your recommenders will be sent an email with instructions about how to access and submit the letter of recommendation. Your recommender will be notified of your selection by email prior to completing your recommendation. Standardized Exam Scores
For most programs, one of the following standardized exams will be required for admission: GMAT, GRE, MAT or GACE. The TOEFL or IELTS exam is required for international applicants. Requirements vary by program. Therefore, you should examine the requirements for admission for your intended program of study which are available in the graduate catalog and on the program’s website to determine which exam is required for your program. If you have already taken the exam and received your scores, you may attach the unofficial score report to the application for admission which can be used for initial consideration for admission. However, official scores must be requested to be sent from the testing agency directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions. Georgia Southern University’s institution code for GRE, MAT and TOEFL or IELTS is 5253, for GACE  it is 417, and for GMAT it is CNM-DZ-67. Failure to have official scores sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions following notification of admission will result in revocation of the admission offer.
Supporting Documents
Supporting documents include items such as personal statements, resumes/CVs, teaching certificates, background check forms, and the like. Most of these items can be imaged and then attached to and submitted with online application for admission. Therefore, you should review the requirements for admission to your intended program of study and have these items available to include with your application. If your program requires that supplemental items (such as portfolios) be mailed, then you must follow the submission instructions on your program’s website.
