Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Management (ONLINE)
About the Program
Applications for the Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Management are not being accepted for the 2019-2020 academic year. Please contact the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies regarding admission in a future term.
The Certificate in Public and Nonprofit Management is intended for in-service career professionals with at least three years of work experience (or, those who have completed part of their graduate course work in a related field of study) in the public or nonprofit sector and who have an interest in furthering their managerial acumen and leadership skills through outstanding web-based instruction. The five course sequence integrates public administration theory with practice, providing practical, real world knowledge and experience. The Certificate program requires only one calendar year of part-time study to complete. All of the credits earned as part of the Certificate program are fully-transferable and count towards completion of the nationally ranked Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program at Georgia Southern University. The MPA degree requires a total of 39-credit hours, whereby, in addition to core management courses, students pursue an area of concentration in public or nonprofit management. The Certificate and MPA program are housed in the Department of Public and Nonprofit Studies, which serves as a focal point for scholarship, teaching, and professional service in the fields of Public Administration and Policy.
